TRAILS AND SIDEWALKS COMMITTEE The Trails and Sidewalk Committee (TSC) scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st at 1:00pm in the Public Meeting Room has been CANCELLED. All business will be deferred to the next regularly scheduled meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, November 5th. Thank you for understanding.

ZONING HEARING BOARD: CONTINUATION OF CASE 536 THIS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 7:00PM IN THE PUBLIC MEETING ROOM. Continuation of ZHB 536: The Zoning Hearing Board will reconvene to announce a decision on ZHB Case 536. The application of Deerfield Mowing and Property Maintenance Inc. seeking the following relief: (1) An appeal from the June 10, 2025 zoning enforcement notice issued by the Zoning Officer for failure to obtain a permit for an agricultural structure and for a violation of the required side yard setback for an agricultural structure, and (2) in the alternative, a request for a variance from Section 240-1102.D.3. of the Kennett Township Zoning Ordinance to allow an agricultural structure to be located 16 feet from a neighboring property line where a 50-foot setback is required. The subject property is located at 428 McFarlan Road, UPI Nos. 62-4-133, 62-4-134, 62-4-135 and 62-4-138 zoned SA (Special Agriculture), and UPI No. 62-4-139 zoned RS (Residential Suburban) consisting of 45 acres.

SPAR HILL COMMUNITY SURVEY Kennett Township has partnered with West Chester University Geography and Planning Department students to help facilitate resident feedback for the future use of the Spar Hill property. This survey is intended to be used as a collection of informative data which will help shape said plans and understand the needs of the community. The survey will remain open until Sunday, October 19, 2025. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Want to engage in-person? Students and Township staff will be at the Kennett Farmer’s Market Friday October 3 beginning at 3 PM.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORT SUMMARY Report given on Sept. 17th at the Board of Supervisors Meeting. Spar Hill Farmhouse: Completed interior painting project, including sealing areas with lead-based paint to reduce exposure risk. Williams Lane: Replaced a deteriorated culvert that had caused sinkholes and safety hazards.
- McFarlan Road: Continued drainage improvements and roadway widening to add shoulders, prevent washouts, protect pavement, and reduce sediment entering streams.

ROAD CLOSURE: MCFARLAN ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE The Kennett Township Department of Public Works is leading an important road improvement project as explained in previous emails and on our website. McFarlan Road is currently closed from Boulder Road to East Hillendale Road as our Public Works team improves the road shoulder. The road will be CLOSED during the day for construction and OPEN in the evenings. It will also be OPEN on Weekends. All emergency services will continue to have access to the area. Additional updates will be shared as the project progresses. Phase Two is anticipated to begin in the next few weeks. Additional information will be forthcoming. THE GREAT PUMPKIN CARVE 2025 Celebrate a beloved Chadds Ford tradition at the Great Pumpkin Carve, October 16–18, 2025! Over 70 giant pumpkins will be carved by local artists on Thursday night and lit for display through Friday and Saturday. Each evening features a Haunted Trail, raffle prizes, and live music from Kenny Thompson & Friends, with food, local craft beer, and wine available for purchase. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 7–17, and free for children 6 and under or CFHS members, with free parking at the meadow next to the Chadds Ford Historical Society. GIRLS SPARK HOSTS FIRST-EVER COMMUNITY SUMMIT Girls Spark, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering middle and high school girls, will host its first-ever Community Summit on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9 AM–1 PM at the Kennett Square Library. The Summit will feature interactive workshops on self-confidence, stress management, cyberbullying, body image, and leadership, along with inspiring keynote speakers and opportunities for girls to connect in a safe, supportive environment.
