BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING

The Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. 

Some of the business items on the agenda include: approving the bi-monthly bill voucher, considering a new HR, Payroll and Training system, as well as considering the reduction to the financial security for Rosedale Walk Land Development Project and authorizing the "Kennett Area Shared Open Space Partnership Pilot" maintenance agreement.  The Township Manager and Department Heads will also be giving their reports for the month of February. 

These meetings are open to all - either in person or via Zoom. Comments from the public are welcome on all business items as they are being considered and during the specific Public Comment time period on the agenda. You may participate in person or via Zoom by notifying the Zoom Host (Kassie Zinzel) that you wish to make a comment. 

The complete agenda and Zoom link can be accessed on our website. Most agenda items have a clickable link which will allow you to view the relevant documents for that agenda item. For most business items you'll see a "Policy Briefing Summary (PBS)" in which the appropriate staff member will offer background and analysis on the proposed action by the Board.

POLICE FACILITY DESIGN WORKSHOP:

Thank you to all of the residents who came out to  participate in the design workshop on Wednesday, March 11th. We were pleased to be able to offer the opportunity attend to every single resident who registered. We expect to share a recap of the workshop at the Wednesday, March 18th Board of Supervisors Meeting.

Updates from the Kennett Township Police Department

Did you know that at the second Board of Supervisors Meeting of the month the Department Heads, Kennett Township Police Department and the Township Manager present their reports for the previous month?

Below are highlights from the Kennett Township Police Department presented by the Kennett Township Police Chief at the February 18th Board of Supervisors meeting. It highlights the work done by Kennett Township Police Department in January 2026. 


The Kennett Township Police Department reported several notable updates for January. An arrest was made in connection with an October 2025 indecent assault investigation, and the suspect is currently being held at Chester County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing. The department also partnered with the Chester County Highway Safety Project through a PennDOT-funded traffic safety grant aimed at reducing DUI incidents and aggressive driving. In addition, Officer Elysia Simmons was appointed to the board of A Child’s Light, an organization that provides mental health support for children who have experienced trauma. Officers also assisted Public Works during the January 24 winter storm to help maintain safe travel conditions throughout the Township.

Kennett Township Police Department – January 2026 Activity Summary:

  • 638 calls for service were handled by the department in January.
  • Officers recorded 312 incidents, including 9 criminal incidents such as burglary, robbery, theft, DUI, and drug-related offenses.
  • 7 arrests were made during the month.
  • Police responded to 279 non-criminal incidents, including alarms, traffic complaints, community assistance, mental health responses, and mutual aid to other agencies.
  • Officers investigated 14 traffic accidents.
  • During 108 traffic stops, officers issued 44 traffic citations and 21 warnings.

The Work Zone: Updates from our Public Works Crew

PUBLIC WORKS STORM RESPONSE UPDATE:

Following the winter storms in January and February, the Township is aware that some yards and mailboxes were damaged during snow removal operations. Our Public Works team appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as they continue working to address and repair any storm-related property damage.

Pet Waste Reminder: Scoop the Poop!

Dog owners are required to clean up after their pets. Please help keep Barkingfield Park clean by properly disposing of pet waste. For questions or concerns please call (610) 388-1300 or email questions@kennett.pa.us 

Yard Waste Debris Center Reminder

Located at 557 Bayard Rd.  The Yard Waste Debris Center is open Monday -Saturday, dawn to dusk and on Sundays from 10 am to dusk.  

  • The Yard Waste Debris Center is for Kennett Township Residents only.
  • All contractors must be accompanied by the property owner.
  • No Bamboo
  • No large stumps.
  • No dirt, stones, brick or concrete.

RED CLAY VALLEY CLEAN UP

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are invited to help clean up 103 miles of roads and streams throughout the Red Clay Valley watershed on Saturday, March 28th (8am-12:00pm). The event begins at 8:00 AM, with volunteers meeting at one of three locations: Ashland Nature Center, Anson B. Nixon Park, or the Kennett Area YMCA Outdoor Pool.

More than 800 volunteers are needed for this community-wide effort, which is perfect for individuals, families, and school or civic groups. No experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.  Only one registration per group is required. Reservations are requested for groups of five or more participants.

Flyer for Rep. Sappey Diaper & Period Products Event

COMMUNITY COLLECTION DRIVE

State Representative Christina Sappey is hosting a Diaper and Period Products Drive to benefit La Comunidad Hispana (LCH). Community members are invited to donate essential items to support local families in need.  Donations will be accepted through Friday, April 3.  Please drop off items at Rep. Sappey's Office located at 698 Unionville Road, Kennett Square, PA- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. For questions, call 484-200-8264 or email repsappey@pahouse.net.
 
Requested items include:
