Police Facility Design Workshop

POLICE FACILITY DESIGN WORKSHOP

We are currently in the design phase of the proposed Police Facility. We will be hosting a workshop on Wednesday, March 11th at 6pm to provide an opportunity for in person dialogue on the design of the new building. Advance registration is required and space is limited.

March 2026 Meeting Schedule

PLANNING COMMISSION WORK SESSION

The Planning Commission will hold a Work Session on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. The main topic on the agenda is the review of Articles 6 and 7 of the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SLDO). The complete agenda and Zoom link can be accessed on our website.


BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING

The Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. 

Business items on the agenda include: the monthly bill voucher, approving Resolution 2026-10: Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) to help with the financials of the Comprehensive Plan update, reviewing fuel bids from CCIU, approving a letter of support for Anson B. Nixon's Capital Campaign, considering a relocation of poles agreement with Verizon.  There will also be a presentation on the Kennett Library.  

These meetings are open to all - either in person or via Zoom. Comments from the public are welcome on all business items as they are being considered and during the specific Public Comment time period on the agenda. You may participate in person or via Zoom by notifying the Zoom Host (Kassie Zinzel) that you wish to make a comment. 

The complete agenda and Zoom link can be accessed on our website. Most agenda items have a clickable link which will allow you to view the relevant documents for that agenda item. For most business items you'll see a "Policy Briefing Summary (PBS)" in which the appropriate staff member will offer background and analysis on the proposed action by the Board. 


HISTORICAL COMMISSION MEETING

The Historical Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on Thursday, March 5th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room.  Items on the agenda include: Announcements & Township Updates from the Director of Planning & Zoning, Board of Supervisor's & Planning Commission Report, 250 Plans and discussion about recruiting new members. NOTICE is hereby given that the Kennett Township Zoning Hearing Board will conduct a public hearing on Thursday March 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room to hear the following applications:

ZHB 541: 187 E. Hillendale Road (UPI No. 62-4-208); zoned SA Specialized Agriculture. Variance relief from Township Zoning Code section 240-1101 to allow construction of a single-family residence and parking/storage of commercial equipment.


ZHB 542: 401 Burnt Mill Road (UPI No. 62-7-21.2); zoned RR – Rural Residential, The Special exception as required by Township Zoning Code Section 240-1901.A.2.f to exceed the maximum allowable size for an accessory structure.

Updates from The Kennett Township Police Department

HIGHWAY SAFETY LAW AWARENESS REMINDER

Thank you to Officer Simmons of the Kennett Township Police Department for sharing critical tips on how to safely navigate roadways when emergency vehicles are responding to calls. The Work Zone: Updates from our Public Works Crew

PECO INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS BEGINNING IN MARCH

PECO will begin another system improvement project in Kennett Township in early March 2026. This project will update an underground electrical feed within a neighborhood and is part of PECO’s ongoing investment to meet increasing energy demands and enhance overall service reliability.

Construction is expected to continue through June 2026 and will take place along Davenport Road, Cedarcroft Road, and Donny Lane. No vegetation work is anticipated as part of this effort.

Residents may notice construction activity in these areas during the project timeline. We appreciate the community’s patience as these important upgrades are completed. Additional information can be found on the Township website.


Yard Waste Debris Center Reminder

Located at 557 Bayard Rd.  The Yard Waste Debris Center is open Monday -Saturday, dawn to dusk and on Sundays from 10 am to dusk.  

  • The Yard Waste Debris Center is for Kennett Township Residents only.
  • All contractors must be accompanied by the property owner.
  • No Bamboo
  • No large stumps.
  • No dirt, stones, brick or concrete.

Spar Hill Farm & Preserve Map

🐾 Information ALERT: Training at Spar Hill – Sunday, March 8th

Please be aware that the Lambertville/New Hope K9 Rescue Squad will be utilizing Spar Hill on Sunday, March 8th for a training exercise.  All dogs are licensed, vaccinated and will be leashed except for those participating in the current training exercise. You may see working dogs and handlers in the area throughout the day. Please give them space and avoid interrupting the exercise. We’re honored to support their lifesaving work!

Free Admission at Brandywine Battlefield Park for Pennsylvania's 345th Birthday

Chadds Ford, PA — This Sunday, March 8, 2026, Brandywine Battlefield Park will celebrate Pennsylvania’s 345th birthday with free admission and engaging programming for all ages. From 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, visitors are invited to explore the historic grounds, enjoy guided tours, and take part in activities that honor the Commonwealth’s founding and Revolutionary War legacy.

Pennsylvania was established on March 4, 1681, when King Charles II granted William Penn a charter for the colony. Nearly a century later, the Battle of Brandywine, fought on September 11, 1777, became a defining moment in the state’s Revolutionary story.

To mark PA’s birthday, they're offering:

• Free admission to the museum and General Washington’s Headquarters

• Living history interpreters and colonial demonstrations

Brandywine Battlefield Park, a National Historic Landmark nestled on 52 acres in Chadds Ford, offers a rare opportunity to stand where history was made. The site is stewarded by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, with active support from the Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates

The next Market is THIS Friday, March 6 from 3-5:30 pm

ENGLISH FOR WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION

Wednesday, March 4th at 6:00 pm

The Adult Literacy Program at Kennett Library is partnering with The Welcoming Center to offer an English for Workplace Communication class for adult English language learners. The course focuses on workplace English, digital literacy, and professional communication skills, including email, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
