BOS MEETING RECAP

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING RECAP:

The Kennett Township Supervisors met on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. This was Dr. Richard Leff's final meeting as a Supervisor and time was taken to recognize his 12 years of service to Kennett Township. 

The Board approved a number of Ordinances and Resolutions including the reauthorization of the First Responder Tax Credit for residents who volunteer with fire companies or nonprofit emergency medical service agencies. Department Heads presented their November 2025 reports.

 ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING: Monday, January 5, 2026 @ 7:00 p.m.

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors is required, per the Second Class Township Code, to hold their organizational meeting on the first Monday in January. This hybrid meeting will take place on Monday, January 7, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. 

This meeting will include the swearing in of newly elected Township Supervisor Michael J. Bailey along with appointments of Township Consultants, Staff, and members of Commissions, Committees, and Boards. All are invited to attend.

FOR SEWER EMERGENCIES:

  • The Township is responsible for the sewer mains and manholes in the road.  Individual property owners are responsible for the infrastructure from their house to the connection in the road.
  • Approximately 9 out of 10 issues are the responsibility of the individual property owner (not the Township).  Please contact a reputable plumber to investigate/perform the repair.
  • For all grinder pump issues, please contact a reputable plumber to investigate/perform the repair.  In Kennett Township, grinder pumps are the responsibility of the property owner.
  • If you suspect the issue is with the sewer main, located in the street, please contact:
    • Ted Otteni, Director of Public Works, at 610.388.1300 ext. 112 and leave a message.  Messages are reviewed periodically.
    • Call 911 and report your emergency.  They can elevate the issue to the appropriate Township personnel.
Recycling Reminder

LOCATION: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage at 557 Bayard Road.

HOURS: The Recycling Center is open DAWN to DUSK, Monday through Saturday and 10:00 am to Dusk on Sundays.

OH, THE HOLIDAYS! DECORATE, TASTE – WATCH YOUR WASTE!

The holiday season can generate up to 25% more household waste due to extra packaging, food, and decorations. Reduce your impact with a few simple steps:

  • Use reusable plates, cups, napkins, and gift wrap

  • Host smaller gatherings and plan food portions carefully

  • Choose experiences, homemade gifts, or service-based gift cards

  • Recycle non-metallic wrapping paper and cards (no batteries)

  • Compost produce scraps, coffee grounds, and evergreens

  • Dispose of batteries and specialty items properly

Celebrate mindfully and make sustainability part of your holiday traditions.

Yard Waste Reminder

Please be sure to review our updated rules to ensure compliance and avoid any violations. Located at 557 Bayard Rd.  The Yard Waste Debris Center is open Monday -Saturday, dawn to dusk and on Sundays from 10 am to dusk.  Additional information can be found HERE.

  • The Yard Waste Debris Center is for Kennett Township Residents only.
  • All contractors must be accompanied by the property owner.
  • No Bamboo
  • No large stumps.
  • No dirt, stones, brick or concrete.

Midnight in the Square

2025 MIDNIGHT IN THE SQUARE

New Year’s Eve in Kennett Square! - Wednesday, December 31, 2025

Ring in the New Year beneath Kennett Square’s iconic Sparkling Mushroom! This beloved community tradition returns with an exciting lineup of live music, stage performances, lasers, and a photo booth—a festive night for all ages.

Admission: Entry is a non-perishable food donation to support Kennett Area Community Service.

Entertainment Begins at 7:00 PM.  Early Mushroom Raise at 8:50 PM for families (weather permitting).  Mushroom Drop Stress Ball 50/50 Raffle at 10:15 PM.  The official Mushroom Drop begins at 11:59 PM—join us as we welcome 2026 together!  Make plans to gather with friends, family, and neighbors for one of Kennett Square’s most magical nights of the year! CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS AT WINTERTHUR

Nov. 22, 2025 – Jan. 4, 2026 | Tues–Sun, 10 AM–5 PM
Holiday Nights: Fridays & Saturdays starting Nov. 28, open until 8 PM (excludes Nov. 29 & Dec. 26)

Step into a storybook holiday at Winterthur! Explore the Yuletide Tour with beautifully decorated trees and displays inspired by classics like A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland. Enjoy whimsical treasures including a gingerbread train station, a magical dollhouse, and a toy train display.  During Holiday Nights, soak in the glow of candlelit tours, live music, firepits, seasonal cocktails, and festive workshops. Special programs include live performances, holiday workshops, and a meet-and-greet with Santa.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS:CARDS & HEARTHS FROM THE COLLECTION

Now on view in Brandywine’s Strawbridge Family Gallery (at the Brandywine Museum of Art), this festive exhibition celebrates the warmth and connection of the holiday season. Featured are select dollhouses from the collection, including two intricate rooms from Ann Wyeth McCoy’s nine-foot family-crafted dollhouse and the debut of the Peters-Herdeg dollhouse—a detailed replica of an 18th-century Georgian manor in Chadds Ford.
