The Work Zone: Updates from our Public Works Crew
Work in Progress:McFarlan Road

ROAD CLOSURE: MCFARLAN ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATE

Starting today, Monday, November 17th the Public Works Department will be milling and paving the outer edge of each side of McFarlan Road.

  • The work will start at the Hillendale Road end and work north on Monday and Tuesday.
    • Residents along McFarlan should plan on accessing McFarlan Road via Rosedale Road on these days.
  • Then we will work on the north end (Rosedale to Nutes Farm Lane +/-) on Wednesday and Thursday.
    • Residents along McFarlan should plan on accessing McFarlan Road via Hillendale Road on these days.

The road will be closed to thru traffic for these days, probably including the overnight hours.

Once this task is complete McFarlan Road will be stabilized and “look normal” for the winter. In the spring, Public Works will widen the road and add drainage elements near Hillendale Road. McFarlan Road will then be milled and paved for the entire roadway width, likely from Rosedale to Creek Road.

Your patience and understanding these last few months is greatly appreciated as the Public Works Department implemented these improvements. This was a large project for a small PW team. Ultimately, this in-house effort saved many thousands of dollars that would have otherwise been expended on outsourcing.

Please contact us at 610-388-1300 or questions@kennett.pa.us with any questions.
