NATIONAL NIGHT OUT! Join us for the 4th annual National Night Out! Kennett Township and Kennett Square police departments are teaming up for an evening of community connection this Thursday, September 25, from 6–8 p.m. at Kennett Square Borough Hall (600 Broad Street). ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL The EAC will hold a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm in the Public Meeting Room. Topics to be discussed include: Recommended changes to support natural landscaping by homeowners, takeaways from the sustainability conference, Stroud water sampling participation, Township rain garden location, RCV Watershed Steward talk and Township Committees. BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING RECAP:The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors met on Wednesday, September 17th. The meeting began with a presentation on the 2026 Budget: Capital Projects & Priorities. If you missed the meeting and want to review the budget presentation; the budget slides can be found here. Department Heads also shared their monthly reports providing a range of updates to the Board of Supervisors and the community. . The full meeting recording can be found here. ZONING HEARING BOARD: CONTINUATION OF CASE 536 Next Tuesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm Continuation of ZHB 536: The application of Deerfield Mowing and Property Maintenance Inc. seeking the following relief: (1) An appeal from the June 10, 2025 zoning enforcement notice issued by the Zoning Officer for failure to obtain a permit for an agricultural structure and for a violation of the required side yard setback for an agricultural structure, and (2) in the alternative, a request for a variance from Section 240-1102.D.3. of the Kennett Township Zoning Ordinance to allow an agricultural structure to be located 16 feet from a neighboring property line where a 50-foot setback is required. SIP & STROLL AT THE ZOO Come out for Sip & Stroll at the Brandywine Zoo, this family-friendly happy hour series running June through September! The next Sip & Stroll is this Thursday September 25th. Each event features live music, local food vendors, and adult beverages including craft beer and wine. The concession stand will also be open with snacks and soft drinks. Drink and food purchases are sold separately, and drink tickets ($6) and silicone cups can be purchased at the ticket window or snack bar. THE GREAT PUMPKIN CARVE 2025Celebrate a beloved Chadds Ford tradition at the Great Pumpkin Carve, October 16–18, 2025! Over 70 giant pumpkins will be carved by local artists on Thursday night and lit for display through Friday and Saturday. Each evening features a Haunted Trail, raffle prizes, and live music from Kenny Thompson & Friends, with food, local craft beer, and wine available for purchase. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 7–17, and free for children 6 and under or CFHS members, with free parking at the meadow next to the Chadds Ford Historical Society.
