KENNETT FIRE & EMS REGIONAL COMMISSION: Special Meeting

The Kennett Fire & EMS Regional Commission will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, to consider the 2026 Budget and any other business that comes before the Commission. The special meeting will be publicly conducted in-person at the Pocopson Township building, 664 Wawaset Road, West Chester, PA 19382. If you are a person who wishes to participate in the meeting and you require an auxiliary aid, service, or other accommodation, please contact the Kennett Township office in advance at 610-388-1300.  The agenda can be accessed by clicking here. 


ZHB Case 536

ZONING HEARING BOARD:CONTINUATION OF CASE 536

Tuesday, August 26th at 7:00 in the Public Meeting Room.

Continuation of ZHB 536: The application of Deerfield Mowing and Property Maintenance Inc. seeking the following relief:  (1) An appeal from the June 10, 2025 zoning enforcement notice issued by the Zoning Officer for failure to obtain a permit for an agricultural structure and for a violation of the required side yard setback for an agricultural structure, and (2) in the alternative, a request for a variance from Section 240-1102.D.3. of the Kennett Township Zoning Ordinance to allow an agricultural structure to be located 16 feet from a neighboring property line where a 50-foot setback is required.  The subject property is located at 428 McFarlan Road, UPI Nos. 62-4-133, 62-4-134, 62-4-135 and 62-4-138 zoned SA (Special Agriculture), and UPI No. 6
2-4-139 zoned RS (Residential Suburban) consisting of 45 acres.

NOTE: The Zoning Hearing Board Solicitor announced the continuation at the July 30th Hearing. He noted that because the date and time of the continued hearing was announced publicly on the record at an already advertised meeting, no additional notice via the Daily Local or USPS mail would be required. 


ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Environmental Advisory Council Meeting will hold a hybrid meeting on Thursday, August, 28th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room.  The zoom link can be found on the agenda once made available.


2025 SPEAKING OF HISTORY: LECTURE SERIES

2025 “SPEAKING OF HISTORY” LECTURE SERIES

A free series of talks on local history presented by the Kennett Heritage Center & the Kennett Township Historical Commission, made possible by a grant from Hadley. Saturday, September 20 at 3pm in the Kennett Library Auditorium. 

Along the Red Clay - The Surprising History of Anson B. Nixon Park

Speaker Clarke Green, local author and visual artist

Open Position: Accounting Assistant

Join our small, dedicated team at Kennett Township. We're looking for a Full-Time Accounting Assistant to support our Finance & HR Department.

This role involves a variety of accounting tasks—A/P, A/R, reconciliation, billing, banking, and more. If you're detail-oriented, tech-savvy (hello Excel wizards!), and love being part of a collaborative team, we want to hear from you! ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: MCFARLAN ROAD IMPROVMENT PROJECT

Project Update – Week of August 25th

Work on Phase One is taking longer than originally anticipated. We now expect Phase One to be completed by the end of this week (week of August 25th). McFarlan Road will be opened up for the Labor Day weekend.

Phase Two is anticipated to begin in mid-September.  Additional information will be forthcoming.

Recycling Reminder

LOCATION: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage at 557 Bayard Road.

HOURS: The Recycling Center is open DAWN to DUSK, Monday through Saturday and 10:00 am to Dusk on Sundays.

Yard Waste Reminder

Please be sure to review our updated rules to ensure compliance and avoid any violations. Located at 557 Bayard Rd.  The Yard Waste Debris Center is open Monday -Saturday, dawn to dusk and on Sundays from 10 am to dusk.  Additional information can be found HERE.

  • The Yard Waste Debris Center is for Kennett Township Residents only.
  • All contractors must be accompanied by the property owner.
  • No large stumps.
  • No dirt, stones, brick or concrete.

40th KENNETT SQUARE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL

Dead Fest

BRANDYWINE RED CLAY ALLIANCE DEAD FEST

Come join in the fun at the 15th Annual Dead Fest.  The event is presented by the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance. All attendees must purchase tickets and one parking pass per car in advance—no gate sales. Wristbands and parking passes will be mailed and required for entry. Enjoy food from Saloon 151, On the Roll, and Bailey’s Ice Cream, or bring your own. Chairs are welcome (no tents). Leashed, well-behaved dogs are allowed—please clean up after them. Approx. 35 musicians will perform throughout the event (no band list). The event is next Friday, September 5, 2025 at 6:00pm to 10:00 pm. Additional information can be found HERE.


KS Hispanic Festival

4th Annual Glass Pumpkin Festival

4TH ANNUAL GLASS PUMPKIN FESTIVAL

Join us for the 4th Annual Glass Pumpkin Festival at WGK Glass Art Inc. in Toughkenamon, PA, from September 12th to 14th, 9 AM to 5 PM daily. This family-friendly, three-day event features live glassblowing and torchwork demonstrations, artisan vendors, live music, food trucks, and beer from Victory Brewery. A highlight of the festival is the “Make Your Own Glass Pumpkin” workshop using the torchwork/lampwork technique, held on Friday, September 12th from 2–3 PM (participants must be 12+). Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. The festival also includes a daily food drive benefiting KACS, and a special visit from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
