Trails & Sidewalks Committee (TSC) The Trails and Sidewalks Committee will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, August 6th at 1:00pm in the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room. Join us for an important discussion on key initiatives affecting our community. Topics to be discussed include: Status updates on current projects, Land Development updates and Land Acquisition updates. The Zoom link can be accessed on the agenda.
Board of Supervisors (BOS) Meeting The Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:00pm in the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room. Join us for an important discussion on key initiatives affecting our community. Topics to be discussed include: updates from American Mushroom Institute as well as an update regarding PECO, Waiver Request/Final Subdivision & Land Development plan for Tague Lumber, and accepting the donation of a K9 police dog. During the meeting there will also be an update on the Kennett Township Feasibility Study with a summary of recommendations for the expansion of the Municipal Facility for Administration & Police. Historical Commission (HC) The Historical Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on Thursday, August 7th at 7:00pm in the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room. Topics to be discussed include: Anniversary of Kennett School System Education Program, Memorial Day Program 2026, PA 250 Kennett Task Force and Committee Reports. McFarlan Road Improvement Project Work for this project began July 29th. Portions of McFarlan Road between E. Hillendale and Rosedale will be closed for the duration of the work. Phase One: McFarlan Road closed from E. Hillendale Road north to Boulder Way. - Began Tuesday, July 29th.
- Emergency services and local residents will have necessary access.
- The public is encouraged to avoid McFarlan Road from E. Hillendale to Rosedale for the duration of the project.
Phase Two: McFarland Road will be closed from New Granite north to Rosedale Road - Will begin after the completion of Phase One. We anticipate this work to begin the week of August 11th.
Work will include: - Installation of drainage inlets to alleviate washouts and flooding concerns
- Construction of 3ft. shoulders, where feasible
- Paving of McFarlan Road
The work is being performed by the Public Works crew. Performing this task with Township staff will result in a significant cost savings to the residents of Kennett Township. Additional details will be shared as the project progresses. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our roadways. Please plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during construction.

The Brandywine Creek and its network of parks and trails form the western limit of Circuit Trails, a regional trail network of the greater Philadelphia region. BRC SUMMER CONCERT SERIESDon't miss out on this FREE Summer Music Series. Held on Thursday evenings July through August. Its free music for the whole family, with a different food truck at each two-hour performance. Gates open at 6 pm and the concert begins at 7:00 pm. Bring your own chair, blanket and cooler! Nixon Park to learn about local flora, see what’s in bloom, identify trees, and discuss local ecology! Following the walk, stay for the Learn and Lend a Hand portion of the program, where participants can volunteer to help with a nature-related task to keep the park beautiful. Temple Well Water Study: The WET Trial Researchers at Temple University are looking for families who drink water from a private well for a paid study. They are interested in keeping children safe from illnesses that can be spread by drinking water from private wells. Families will receive a free whole-home UV water treatment system (value of device + installation = $1,000). Families can participate from home. To be part of this NIH-funded study, families must have a child under the age of four and live in select Pennsylvania and New Jersey counties.
