Environmental Advisory Council (EAC)

The Environmental Advisory Council will hold a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:00pm at Kennett Township in the Public Meeting Room.  Topics to be discussed include follow up on the Climate Action Survey, Watershed Steward Training ideas, and Bird Town Updates.

🐾 Information ALERT: Training at Spar Hill – Sunday, July 27th

Please be aware that the Lambertville/New Hope K9 Rescue Squad will be utilizing Spar Hill on Sunday, July 27 from 9:00 AM to approximately 3:00–4:00 PM for a training exercise.  All dogs are licensed, vaccinated and will be leashed except for those participating in the current training exercise. You may see working dogs and handlers in the area throughout the day. Please give them space and avoid interrupting the exercise. We’re honored to support their lifesaving work!


Planning & Zoning Department Update

Each month Department Heads provide a report on the activities of their Department for the previous month. The full Planning and Zoning report for June 2025 would have been presented at the cancelled July 16th Board of Supervisors Meeting. Highlights from this report are below:

🔹 Planning Commission
Reviewed plans for Tague Lumber (Final) and the Kydd Subdivision (Preliminary/Final) at the July 8 meeting. Plan documents are available on the Township website. Work continues on updating the Subdivision & Land Development Ordinance, with adoption anticipated in mid-2026.

🔹 Permits
Permits are required for construction, renovations, HVAC, paving, and more. Visit kennett.pa.us/279/Forms-Permits or contact 📧 permits@kennett.pa.us | 📞 610-388-1300 for assistance.

🔹 Code Enforcement
In June, 4 complaints were investigated: 2 resulted in violations; 2 found no issues.

🔹 Historical Commission
Planning is underway for America’s 250th anniversary (2026). Residents interested in helping or exploring the Historic Resource Room can email 📧 KTHC@kennett.pa.us. Learn more at america250chesco.org.

🔹 Permit Activity

  • 19 building permits issued — $18,698.34 in fees

  • 10 rental permits — $1,250.00 in fees

🔹 Construction Updates

  • The Parks at North Walnut: 183 homes + 2 commercial spaces; site work underway

  • Rosedale Walk: Residential project in progress

  • Enclave at Sills Mill: 3-lot subdivision; 2 homes under construction

Williams Culvert Replacement Project

This week the Township will be replacing the culvert under Willams Lane. The work should only take two days. There will be times that the road will be impassable.  Updates will be posted to Kennett Township Facebook and website. 



McFarlan Rd Construction Graphic

McFarlan Road Improvement Project

Phase one of the project is scheduled to begin July 28th.  Portion of the road will be closed for duration of work. 

Work will include:

  • installation of drainage inlets to alleviate washouts and flooding concerns
  • construction of 3ft. shoulders, where feasible
  • paving of McFarlan Road

Yard Waste Debris Center closed starting 7/2

IMPORTANT ANNOUCMENT: UPDATE

The Yard Waste Debris Center is currently closed for maintenance. We expect the grinding and disposal of the existing pile to take another 2 weeks to complete.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Updates will be posted here and in the weekly e-news. Brandywine Creek Greenway

BRANDYWINE CREEK GREENWAY

Get out and explore the Brandywine Creek Greenway! The Brandywine Creek and its network of parks and trails form the western limit of Circuit Trails, a regional trail network of the greater Philadelphia region. The Greenway boasts over 36,000 acres of protected open space, one National Historical Park, one state Scenic Byway, three major state parks, over forty municipal parks, and 69 miles of trails and sidewalks situated throughout the corridor. SOUNDS OF SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

The Kennett Area Park Authority is pleased to present the 2025 Sounds of Summer FREE Concert Series! Be sure to save the dates and join us for a good time in Anson B. Nixon Park! Performances will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30pm beginning June 11th and running through August 6th. They have a great line-up this year! Food & beverage vendors will open for business beginning at 6pm each week. Sponsorships are available. Donations to support daily operations in Anson B. Nixon Park are encouraged and appreciated. Spanish Storytime Kennett Library

SPANISH STORYTIME

FRIENDS OF KENNETT LIBRARY PRESENTS: SHOP & DINE

Support the Kennett Library and local businesses by participating in this year's Shop & Dine event.  31 Chances to win gift cards to local shops and restaurants. Raffle tickets are available now through July 31st. BRCA Concert Series: Local Honey

BRC SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

Don't miss out on this FREE Summer Music Series. Held on Thursday evenings July through August.  Its free music for the whole family, with a different food truck at each two-hour performance.  Gates open at 6 pm and the concert begins at 7:00 pm.  Bring your own chair, blanket and cooler!  The next concert is this Thursday, July 24th. LOCAL HONEY will be performing and while you're there enjoy some yummy food from PHILLY HOTS Food Truck. The event is happening at 1760 Unionville Wawaset Rd, West Chester, PA. KSQ Farmers Market

Next Farmers Market is this Friday July, 25

The KSQ Farmers Market has been serving the community since 2000.  Its a program of the Kennett Collaborative. Art on the Greenway

ART ON THE GREENWAY: COMMUNITY PICNIC

The Kennett Trails Alliance invites you to make your mark on the Kennett Greenway this Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Anson B. Nixon Park. Add your brushstroke to the Wild Medicine: Eco Mural 23 project during a paint-by-number workshop led by Philadelphia-based muralist Kala Hagopian, and enjoy an afternoon of art, music, food, a bike rodeo, and family fun.
