KTPD Family Fun Day 2025

Enjoy a FREE day filled with games, great music, and community spirit! Bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun activities, entertainment, and the chance to connect with your local police officers in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. There will be games, food, Kona Ice, and more!

Kennett Township Board of Supervisors

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors (BOS) will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. Residents may attend in person in the Public Meeting Room at 801 Burrows Run Road or via Zoom. The Zoom link can be accessed on the agenda.

The meeting agenda includes:

  • Public Hearing on Ordinance 310: Wireless Communication - this is your chance to learn more and provide feedback on the changes to the wireless communication facility code. The Board will have the opportunity to vote Ordinance 310: Wireless Communication following the Public Hearing.
  • Consideration of Ordinance 312: Municipal Claims for Delinquent Accounts. 
  • Consideration of new insurance carrier for short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Consideration of adopting Resolution intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement for Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway Commission.  
  • Updates from Township Staff


    Trails and Sidewalks Committee

    The Kennett Township Trails & Sidewalks Committee (TSC) will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, June 4th at 1:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. Come together with us to discuss important efforts impacting our community. Topics to be discussed include: Land Development Updates and a presentation on the Chester County Outdoor Access Guide. The Zoom link can be accessed on the agenda.


    Historical Commission 

    The Kennett Township Historical Commission (HC) will hold a hybrid meeting on Thursday, June 5th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. Take part in a meaningful discussion on projects and issues that matter to our community. Topics to be discussed include: The Anniversary of Kennett School System Education Program, Memorial Day Program 2026, Committee Reports and more. The Zoom link can be accessed on the agenda.


    Environmental Advisory Council Meeting: Local Climate Action Survey Update:

    At last week’s Environmental Advisory Council meeting, Penn State student Alison Bucher-Rubilar presented preliminary results from the Local Climate Action Survey. Ms. Bucher-Rubilar is Kennett Township resident and an Energy & Sustainability Policy major participating in Penn State’s Local Climate Action Program. Public Works New Dump Truck

After nearly two years in production, the Township’s Public Works Department received the new 10-wheel dump truck. 

The new truck is larger than the rest of the Township’s dump truck fleet to support the effort to insource more work. The large truck will facilitate transporting heavy equipment throughout the Township in addition to moving more material faster.

Yard Waste Debris Center
CC Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Chester County Solid Waste Authority is hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Friday, June 20, at the Coatesville CCIU Learning Center, 1635 E. Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville. A list of accepted items can be found here. TVs, electronics, latex paint, and freon appliances will not be accepted. Registration is required.



Community News

FREE FOR ALL: The Public Library

Kennett Library is honored to partner with WHYY and Indie Lens Pop-Up to host a Free for All: The Public Library screening, followed by a panel discussion featuring library staff on Saturday, June 7th at 2pm. 

Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who serve the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.  Additional details and registration information can be found here.


Come to the Kennett Library for Musical Fun!

Musical performance and instruction for children ages 2-6 will focus on singing, rhythmic exercises using instruments, and expressive movement, including opportunities for parents to share in music-making with their children. The next Toddler Music class will be on Thursday, June 5th at 10:00am. For more information on the event click here.



Celebrate World Ocean Day!

Celebrate the beauty and importance of our oceans on World Ocean Day! This special day is dedicated to raising awareness about the vital role oceans play in supporting life on Earth. Dive into hands-on activities, engaging exhibits, and expert talks focused on marine ecosystems, ocean conservation, and the diverse creatures that inhabit the seas. From coral reefs to the deep sea, World Ocean Day at the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science is your chance to make a splash in the effort to preserve our oceans for future generations.

United Way of SCCC presents Summer Music Festival

SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Come out for the United Way of Southern Chester County Music Festival, a family-friendly community event designed to bring people together for an evening of music, fun, and philanthropy. This exciting festival will feature local bands, intermissions that highlight UWSCC’s mission, recognition of our 2025 “Care-ie Award” winner and our 80th birthday cake presentation!

Brews at the Battlefield

Brews at the Battlefield 2025

Come out for an unforgettable evening at Brandywine Battlefield Park on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. The Battlefield is an iconic location that holds significant historical importance, making it the perfect backdrop for an evening of great beer and good company. Brews at the Battlefield is hosted by and benefits the non-profit Brandywine Battlefield Park Assoicates.  Every dollar collected helps educate the public and promote the historic events that took place in Chadds Ford during the 1777 Philadelphia campaign.  More information about this event can be found here.



Sports Camp

Sports Camp @ Anson B. Nixon Park

Each day participate in a different sports activity. Camp meets June 30 - July 3, from 10 am - 12 pm at Anson B. Nixon Park! Registration is required. Suitable for ages 8 - 14.  Registration for the event opens TODAY, Monday June 2, 2025.

BRC Summer Camp

BRC Summer Nature Camp

Our weekly summer day camps include programs for kids ages four to fifteen. We inspire appreciation and knowledge of the natural environment by getting outside away from modern day technology.  The 2025 season of camp begins June 23rd and runs through August 15th. Camp is from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with limited before and after care available.  For more information on BRC Summer Nature Camp can be found here.
