Environmental Advisory Council The Kennett Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) will hold a hybrid meeting Tuesday, May 27th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. The Board of Supervisors met on Wednesday, May 21st to consider a range of business items. Some highlights include: - Adopted Ordinance 311 which amended Chapter 232 Weeds of the Township Code by adopting regulations for planting, controlling, and removal of bamboo. Details regarding the ordinance can be found below.
- Authorized the advertisement of the required ordinance regarding municipal claims for delinquent accounts. This Ordinance will be considered by the Board at their June 4th meeting.
- Approved Resolution 2025-9 which authorized the execution of an agreement with PennDOT for directional signage for tourism.

5 Things to Know about the Kennett Township Bamboo Ordinance On May 21, 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance 311, establishing a ban on the planting of bamboo within the Township. What does this mean for Township residents? Effective May 26, 2025, planting bamboo in the Township is prohibited. - Property owners are required to remove any bamboo within 40 feet of any public roadway in the Township.
- All existing bamboo, except within 40 feet of any public roadway, may remain provided the property owner ensures the bamboo does not spread.
- Property owners are responsible for implementing measures to prevent the spread of existing bamboo.
- Disposal of rhizomes (bamboo root system) is prohibited at the Kennett Township Yard Waste Facility.
- Any violations of the ordinance may be reported to Code Enforcement through email at kmorgenstern@kennett.pa.us or calls to 610-388-1300 ext. 121

Former Manager, Eden Ratliff, accepts Medal of MeritDuring the May 21st meeting, Eden Ratliff, the former Township Manager accepted the Medal of Merit awarded by the Board of Supervisors at their December 18, 2024 meeting. Richard Leff, Chair of the Board of Supervisors, spoke about Eden's many accomplishments during his time at Kennett Township. Wednesday May 28th, Kennett Library, 6:30pm-8:00pm Where Do Old Books Go? is back! In this workshop series learn how to upcycle old book pages into works of art. We’ll be featuring different artists and techniques every month like origami, papier mâché, book folding, erasure poetry, paper cutting, flower pressing, shadow puppetry, and more! Artist, Kelly Martin, of Paper Hibiscus will demonstrate the art of paper quilling and more! Registration is required and can be found here

The Chester County Planning Commission, Chester County Facilities, and Keep Chester County Beautiful will be hosting a campaign sign collection event running from May 20th through May 30, 2025, with three drop off points: the Government Services Center, Oaklands Corporate Center, SECCRA Community Landfill and Springton Manor Farm.

The Kennett Square Markets will feature 100 carefully curated vendors with a wide variety of handmade and vintage goods along with food trucks, live music, beer and wine, free kids' crafts, and many additional shopping and dining options in town. The Market is produced in partnership with Kennett Collaborative and the Borough. The Market vendors will be set up in the parking lot at 600 S. Broad Street, right across from Kennett High School. The entire lot will be closed for the Market. The Market is just a very short walk drive from the downtown shopping and restaurant district and close to additional dining options and activities on Birch Street. For more information click here.
