Happy Monday! We're delighted to bring you the latest updates, news and happenings around our community.  From local events to important announcements, this week's newsletter is your guide to staying connected and informed about what's going on in Kennett Township.

Kennett Township is collecting non-perishables for KACS throughout the month of December! Bins are located in the Township Offices lobby and can be brought to any Township meeting.  We are trying to fill a KTPD Cruiser!

Board of Supervisors Reorganization Meeting

Mark your calendars for the BOS Reorganization Meeting.  The Meeting will be held on Monday January 6th at 7pm. This is a hybrid meeting that you can attend in person at the Township building or via Zoom. The Zoom link can be accessed via the agenda which will be posted to the Agenda Center prior to the meeting.

Note: The Second Class Township Code requires that we meet on the first Monday of the year for a Reorganization Meeting. There will be no Board of Supervisors meeting on the first Wednesday of January 2025.

Trails & Sidewalks Committee Meeting

A TSC meeting will be held on Wednesday January 8th at 1pm. This is a hybrid meeting that you can attend in person at the Township building or via Zoom. The Zoom link will be available when the agenda is posted to the Agenda Center.

Historical Commission Meeting

A HC meeting will be held on Thursday January 9th at 7pm. This is a hybrid meeting that you can attend in person at the Township building or via Zoom. The Zoom link will be available when the agenda is posted to the Agenda Center.

RECAP: Board of Supervisors Meeting 

The Board of Supervisors (BOS) met on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 for the last meeting of 2024. The BOS discussed and voted on a number of topics including the milage rate increase to 0.1 mills and the phorid fly infestation threat.  To view the video recording of the meeting please click on the image above.

Building Code Appeals Board Vacancy

Kennett Township Planning Commission Membership 

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the Planning Commission.  The Township intends to hold interviews with interested volunteers with a panel.  Anyone interested is asked to fill out a Volunteer Form which can be accessed here and send a resume and letter of intent to kennett.twp@kennett.pa.us.  

Chester County Burn Ban Lifted

Chester County’s burn ban is no longer in effect, following approval earlier this month by Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz, and Eric Roe. The vote by the Commissioners to lift the ban was made at a specially scheduled public meeting following the recommendation of Chester County Department of Emergency Services Director Bill Messerschmidt. For more information click here.

Pennsylvania’s Drought Task Force has announced that, as of November 1st, Chester County is under a Drought Watch. For more details on the drought declaration, visit PADEP’s Drought Information page.

Recycling

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY.  Proof of residency may be required.  

With the holidays upon, household waste increases about 25% this time of year.  Click Here to check out some ideas on how you can "Watch Your Waste- Holiday Edition". 

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.  

PUBLIC NOTICE

Ordinance 307 was passed on October 10th, 2024, to address the challenges caused by unauthorized dumping at the yard waste drop off site.  We encourage all residents to familiarize themselves with Ordinance 307 and ensure compliance to avoid penalties. If you have any questions or require clarification, please do not hesitate to contact the Kennett Township.

Calling all High School Juniors & Seniors: Scholarship Application 

Four $1,500 scholarships are available to high school juniors and seniors: two Local Government Achievement  scholarships and two Academic Achievement scholarships. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.  Additional information can be found on the PSATS website.
