Happy Monday! We're delighted to bring you the latest updates, news and happenings around our community.  From local events to important announcements, this week's newsletter is your guide to staying connected and informed about what's going on in Kennett Township.

Kennett Township is collecting non-perishables for KACS throughout the month of December! Bins are located in the Township Offices lobby and can be brought to any Township meeting.  We are trying to fill a KTPD Cruiser!

Local Climate Action Plan

Kennett Township Environmental Advisory Council Presentation

The Kennett Township Environmental Advisory Council will host a presentation on the Local Climate Action Plan on Tuesday December 17th at 7:00pm.  This is a hybrid Presentation being held at the Township Public Meeting Room.  The Zoom link can be accessed here.  


Kennett Township Board of Supervisors Meeting 

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday December 18th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room.  Topics include: Phorid Fly Resolution, awarding the second Medal of Merit, and adopting the 2025 Tax Levy.  The Zoom link can be accessed via the agenda.  



KT Office will be closed 12/19 at 11:30 am, will reopen at 8:00 Friday

Kennett Township Building Code Appeals Board

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the Building Code Appeals Board.  The Township intends to hold interviews with interested volunteers with a panel.  Anyone interested is asked to fill out a Volunteer Form which can be accessed here and send an optional resume to kennett.twp@kennett.pa.us.

Cedarcroft Road Closure

Countywide Burn Ban Lifted

Chester County’s burn ban is no longer in effect, following approval on December 9th, by Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz, and Eric Roe. The vote by the Commissioners to lift the ban was made at a specially scheduled public meeting following the recommendation of Chester County Department of Emergency Services Director Bill Messerschmidt.  For more information can be found here.

Drought Watch Continues

Pennsylvania’s Drought Task Force has announced that, as of November 1st, Chester County is under a Drought Watch. For more details on the drought declaration, visit PADEP’s Drought Information page.

Recycling

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY.  Proof of residency may be required.  

With the holidays upon, household waste increases about 25% this time of year.  Click Here to check out some ideas on how you can "Watch Your Waste- Holiday Edition". 

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.

Midnight in the square

Celebrate NYE in Kennett Square under the Sparkling Mushroom!

2024 Midnight in the Square.  Help Celebrate New Year's Eve! December 31st. Music and entertainment begin at 7:00 pm. At 8:50 the Giant Sparkling Mushroom will be raised. For more details about this fun event click the logo above.

Winter Programs at Kennett Library
