Kennett Township Planning Commission Meeting

The Kennett Township Planning Commission will hold a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, August 13th at 7:00PM at the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room. Click Here to access the agenda. The Zoom link can be found on the agenda.

Don't Miss the (Rescheduled) National Night Out 2024!

Your Kennett Township Police Department and Kennett Square Police Department were disappointed about cancelling last weeks NNO. But we are excited to offer the rescheduled date of Tuesday, August 13th from 6:00pm-8:00pm! You don't want to miss this event which will be held at the Borough's municipal building parking lot at 600 S. Broad Street. There will be lots of FREE food, entertainment for kids, and much more.

NOTE: Any updates related to weather will be posted to the Kennett Township Police Department Facebook Page and the Township website.

Kennett Fire & EMS Regional Commission Meeting

The Kennett Fire & EMS Regional Commission will hold it's monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 13th at 5:00PM at the Pocopson Township Building. Click Here to access the agenda and activity reports.

Township Offices: Summer Friday's By Appointment Only

Kennett Township offices will be open by appointment only on Friday's through the end of the summer. Our staff will still be available by phone (610-388-1300) and email on Fridays but in person business is by appointment only. Please call the office at 610-388-1300 if you wish to schedule an appointment. Our regular walk in hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM will remain in effect Monday-Thursday.

Kennett Township Public Works Updates

Paving work is complete and now we have a contractor painting the double yellow centerlines and white edge lines. If you see the paint truck in front of you, please stay off the lines.

The yard waste area at the Township’s Public Works garage is still closed for grinding and disposal of the existing pile. We will update the community once it is available.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Chester Water Authority will begin a water main relocation on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike).

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, July 15, through Friday, August 16, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Orchard Avenue and Greenwood Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY. Proof of residency may be required. The Recycling Drop Off Center on Bayard Road takes plastic containers No's 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7. All recycling is now commingled or "Single Stream," which means that all recycling, with the exception of shredded paper, can be collected in a single collection box. Aluminum, Metal Food Containers, Glass, Plastic Bottles, and Paper Products can be recycled at the Kennett Township Recycling Center.

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.

BE AWARE: Fraudulent EPA Notice of Violation Letters

Please keep an eye out for fraudulent EPA Notice letters. Businesses are receiving falsified Notice of Violations and it's possible that municipalities may begin to receive these as well. For more information and to see a sample of a fraudulent letter, Click Here.
