Kennett Township Board Of Supervisors Meeting 

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, August 7th at 7:00PM at the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room.  Click Here to access the agenda.  The Zoom link can be found on the agenda.  

This meeting will include a presentation on the Kennett Fire & EMS Regional Commission's Fire Apparatus Fleet Review and Assessment Report. Please join us as the Board of Supervisors considers funding for the fleet needs.

Don't Miss National Night Out 2024! 

Your Kennett Township Police Department and Kennett Square Police Department are teaming up again to co-host this year's National Night Out this Tuesday, August 6th from 6:00pm-8:00pm! You don't want to miss this event which will be held at the Borough's municipal building parking lot at 600 S. Broad Street. There will be lots of FREE food, entertainment for kids, and much more. 

NOTE: Any updates related to weather will be posted to the Kennett Township Police Department Facebook Page and the Township website.

Township Offices: Summer Friday's By Appointment Only 

Kennett Township offices will be open by appointment only on Friday's through the end of the summer.  Our staff will still be available by phone (610-388-1300) and email on Fridays but in person business is by appointment only.  Please call the office at 610-388-1300 if you wish to schedule an appointment.  Our regular walk in hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM will remain in effect Monday-Thursday.  

Congratulations to Diane Hicks on her Retirement

At the July 17th Board of Supervisors Meeting, Kennett Township acknowledged Diane Hicks' retirement after 10 years of dedicated service. We are grateful for all that Diane has done for the Kennett Township community.

Yard Waste Drop-Off

The yard waste area at the Township’s Public Works garage will be closing for several weeks starting on July 22nd for grinding and disposal of the existing pile.  It is estimated to reopen on August 16th.  Thank you for your patience as the date recently changed. During the closure residents will not be able to utilize the yard waste drop of area, but the recycling bins will remain accessible.
PennDOT

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Chester Water Authority will begin a water main relocation on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike).

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

  • Monday, July 15, through Friday, August 16, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Orchard Avenue and Greenwood Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Kaolin Road

Kaolin Road Closing 

Culvert work continues on Kaolin Road. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this outlined area due to potential back ups. 
Recycle

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY.  Proof of residency may be required.  The Recycling Drop Off Center on Bayard Road takes plastic containers No's 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7. All recycling is now commingled or "Single Stream," which means that all recycling, with the exception of shredded paper, can be collected in a single collection box. Aluminum, Metal Food Containers, Glass, Plastic Bottles, and Paper Products can be recycled at the Kennett Township Recycling Center.

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.

August 8, 2024 AQUA Public Hearing 

Any resident on AQUA?  AQUA has proposed a $126.7 million water and wastewater rate increase to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC). PUC will host a public input hearing on Thursday, August 8th at 1:00pm. at the New Garden Township Municipal Building: 299 Starr Road, Landenberg.    Additional information can be found by Clicking Here.
