Paving

The paving process is underway! Paving started bright and early this morning on Center Mill Road.  If the weather cooperates, paving will be complete by the end of this week.  Local Traffic will be able to get through.  For a list of all roads to be paved please Click Here.  We will be updating the township's social media platforms with the specific dates each road will be paved.  Any questions can be directed to Ted Otteni, Director of Public Works at 610.388.1300 ext. 112 or ted.otteni@kennett.pa.us.

Please note that the paving program only addresses Township owned roads. We are aware of the  severe condition of Kaolin Road and would like to thank State Rep. Christina Sappey for her advocacy on behalf of Kennett Township residents for PennDOT to make Kaolin Road a priority. State Rep. Sappey has shared that Kaolin Road, from Marshal’s Bridge Road to New Garden will have the deteriorated asphalt surface removed during the week of July 22 in conjunction with a planned road closure of Kaolin Road to replace a stormwater culvert under the road.  The failed asphalt layer will be removed by an advance milling technique known as Micro-milling.  The resulting surface will be smoother than traditional milled surfaces one may experience during paving operations.  Kaolin Road will be paved with a new surface layer in the future as funding can be allocated.

Boom Mowing

Boom Mowing

The Township has rented a boom-mower to address the overgrown vegetation along our roads that a standard roadside mower cannot address. This maintenance activity has not been done in several years so you may notice a measurable cut back with this operation.  We will try to avoid specific landscaped areas as well as trees that are part of a front yard.  If these elements are infringing upon the roadway clearance or obstructing sight distance, we will notify the individual property owner to rectify the situation prior to the Public Works crew performing the task.

Regular maintenance of the roadways, including roadside mowing, maintains the integrity and safety of our roads.  Roadside mowing helps to create a safe area for all road users including motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.  The mowing also increases sight distance along our roads and from driveways/intersections to help keep everyone safe.

If you have any questions, please contact Ted Otteni, Director of Public Works at ted.otteni@kennett.pa.us or 610.388.1300 ext. 112
