Broadband Gaps & Outages

In the coming months, there will be a series of funding opportunities through the Pennsylvania Broadband Infrastructure Program and the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, to help address gaps in coverage and larger scale regional projects; but we need to know where those gaps in coverage exist today.  If you are a resident who does not have access to these types of services, we would welcome knowing your home or business address to make it part of future planned improvements.

Spar Hill Demo

Spar Hill Demo Complete

The development of Spar Hill Farm continues to make great progress. The Township has completed the demolition of the non-historic structures and grading at the farm which has removed many of the hazards that were previously present. The demolition project included demolishing of dilapidated and hazardous structures. Remaining structures are those with regional historic significance that tell the story of farming in Kennett Township in the 1800s. Did you know Spar Hill was once the most productive farm in Kennett Township?

The Township’s Public Works Department is working diligently to make the farm ready for its grand opening this spring. Brandywine Red Clay Alliance assists with the efforts by maintaining the existing trail network and mowing of the property. The future of the farm is exciting as it will be enjoyed by many as a place to gather, passively recreate, picnic, and hike. Who will be the first to have a photo shoot on this beautiful property?

Later this year the Township will be pursuing historic preservation of the remaining structures which include a smoke house, 1800s farm house, foundations from previous structures, and an intact pony barn. These structures are picturesque and provide a great viewshed to visitors and passersby alike.
