Kennett Township
Board of Supervisors
December 16, 2019

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

A few days ago, we invited you to a special meeting to be held this Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at the Red Clay Room.

Our purpose is to share information with you about a $3.2 million fraud scheme allegedly perpetrated against Kennett Township over past six and a half years by the former Township Manager Lisa Moore.
The evening will provide information in three significant areas:

  • What happened
  • What’s being done to fix it
  • Questions and answers session
For the Q&A session, the Township Supervisors will be joined by our new township manager, our forensic accountant and the expert hired to recover as much of the funds as possible, plus other members of the team.

We have attached a pdf of the District Attorney’s 12/10 Press Release which explains much more of the story.

WHY IS THIS MEETING SO IMPORTANT?
During the past eight months as the investigations continued, the District Attorney instructed us to limit any discussion or speculation about the entire matter.
We reported as much as we could during that time but now we are freer to talk about what happened – and we want you to have the facts.
This will be an important meeting to get information out and to make sure everyone has a chance to hear about this matter first hand.

Here are some of the subjects we will discuss:
  • What the investigations uncovered
  • How the money was stolen
  • Factors which contributed to the crimes
  • Who were the experts who investigated
  • What charges were filed and what do they mean
  • How will embezzled funds be recovered
  • How could this happen and go on for so long
  • Impacts this may have on you, your taxes, and the township

We encourage you to attend on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:00 pm at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square.
