Residents have the opportunity to name any unmarked body of water, such as streams and ponds with the approval of the Board of Supervisors per Resolution 2023-11.
Residents should fill out an application and bring it to the Township Building with the application fee. The names will then be placed on the Township website (below) for two weeks. Afterwards, it will be voted on at the next Board of Supervisors Meeting.
Stream Naming Application
Once your name has been approved by the Board of Supervisors, in order for it to appear on Federal maps and products, you will need to contact the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) and go through their process for recognition. You can reach them at BGNEXEC@usgs.gov or by phone (703) 648-4553
